Site Supervisor:

LivLab Studios seeks a skilled leader to support and manage LivLab’s construction crew as they scale up production of modular tiny homes in Albuquerque, NM. The Site Supervisor facilitates and ensures all work is safely delivered, constructed with required quality, and efficiently delivered. They ensure standardized work plans and methods are adhered to, safety and risk management policies are followed, and that the daily and weekly schedule is reviewed with the team. The Site Supervisor provides coaching and leadership to all construction crew personnel and ensures the company’s culture, values, and processes are upheld. This supervisor will facilitate a team environment that will motivate, inspire, educate, and develop our people to be the best professionals they can be. This is a new position to LivLab; the right fit will be excited to work with the crew and leadership to help define the role. Reports directly to leadership. Work schedule M-F.

Job Description:

  1. Supervision

    1. Oversee, supervise, and coach all crew members (2-9 crew members on site daily, some full-time and some part-time)

    2. Ensure that all necessary training has occurred before work commences, including but not limited to training on safety, quality requirements, and work methods for each work activity

    3. Passion for teaching crew members how to complete tasks, check work for quality, how to make decisions vs. ask for help, prioritize, meet deadlines, etc.

    4. Responsible for regular, documented employee evaluations as well as informal coaching and feedback as necessary to support employee professional development

    5. Ensure that crew members maintain regular rotations away from the job site to help find work/life balance

  2. Operations

    1. Manage and analyze projects (schedules, production, materials, equipment, personnel)

    2. Creates task lists to maximize the productivity of crew

    3. Report daily to management (summary of projects progress, discuss and offer solutions to pending or future issues)

    4. Resolve issues starting at the lowest level through the chain of command until resolved

    5. Oversee and supervise/coordinate all equipment repairs and services

    6. Oversee inventory materials

    7. Interface with LivLab leadership team as needed

    8. Correspond with contractor representatives

  3. Safety

    1. On-site company safety officer: Conduct safety inspections on site and hold safety meetings weekly

  4. Quality

    1. Understand and ensure team follows agency standard drawings, project plans, and specifications

    2. Inspect quality of work and ensure production levels are adequate

    3. Instill a philosophy that quality is the responsibility of each individual employee and emphasize personal accountability for quality execution of the work

    4. Foster and support an environment that values continuous improvement

    5. Makes recommendation to leadership for improvements to processes, staffing, and company culture

Desired Qualifications

  1. 3 or more years of experience in construction management or other related fields, including 2 years of related supervisory experience

  2. Working knowledge of construction equipment and their appropriate applications

  3. Proficient in General Construction including framing, drywall, metal work, TPO roofing, trim carpentry, and tiling.

  4. Valid driver’s license, acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR), reliable personal vehicle and liability insurance.

  5. Interpersonal skills – Ability to supervise and present information to many diverse employees including men, women, gender-diverse individuals, and people of color. 

  6. Effective communication skills (oral, written, listening, presentation) to effectively work with company leadership, employees, and contractors from diverse backgrounds.

  7. Computer and phone literacy. Goggle Drive (and all of its functions), email, phone calls, texts. Knowledge of project management software a plus. 

  8. Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, create and follow schedules, and meet deadlines.

  9. Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively

  10. Accounting (math and record keeping).

  11. Intermediate construction document knowledge. Knowledge of plan layouts, references, notes, and good practices associated with producing and reading construction plans.

  12. Basic general construction knowledge of terminology, crafts, and documents.

Salary

$25-30 per hour based on experience.
